is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is America's domestic
Peace Corps. By helping others, AmeriCorps Members help themselves and
strengthen communities. They do not receive a salary, but like Peace
Corps members, they receive a minimal living stipend and an education
award upon completing 1700 hours of service.
What is EKU AmeriCorps?
EKU AmeriCorps Members implement research based on reading programs
for K-5 students, drug educational programs, book buddy programs, volunteer
programs, along with school and community service projects.

EKU AmeriCorps Mission
The mission of EKU AmeriCorps is to connect schools and communities
in meaningful literacy and drug education programs and to promote the
ethic of community service.
Benefits:
- $11,500 living stipend/paid bi-weekly for 10 months

Requirements:
Potential AmeriCorps Members must demonstrate leadership and a willingness
to be a component of a team of service providers. AmeriCorps Members
must be at least 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma or equivalency
diploma, be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien
of the U.S, and must like working with kids.
Responsibilities of the Position:
EKU AmeriCorps Members are trained monthly and supervised by the EKU
AmeriCorps. EKU AmeriCorps Members will serve full time for 10 months/1700
hours working with students in literacy/tutoring programs, drug education
programs, book buddy programs, along with school and community service
projects.
Marginal Functions of Position:
Evening and/or weekend school events (occasionally)
Demands/Challenges of the Position:
Occasional overnight training, travel to training, evening and/or school
events (occasional), after-school programs.
