Welcome to Counseling and Educational Psychology IN ORDER TO HAVE YOUR APPLICATION SCREENED FOR SPRING 2010 ADMISSION, ALL APPLICATION MATERIAL MUST BE IN BY DECEMBER 8TH
Mission Statement:
The Counseling and Educational Psychology Department, at Eastern Kentucky University serves students of the Commonwealth as a provider of research, service, and educational opportunities and experiences. The unit is dedicated to the preparation of counselors who function effectively in a culturally diverse society. Located outside of Kentucky’s metropolitan areas, EKU has a special obligation to serve the needs of students from the rural areas of central, eastern, and southeastern Kentucky. The program is designed around national and state standards, including the Council for Accreditation on Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB), and the Kentucky Board for Certified Professional Counselors (KBCPC).
The Counseling and Educational Psychology faculty place priority on the application aspect of counseling. Each student is expected to be knowledgeable of counseling theories, intervention techniques, research skills, and to be committed to their own personal growth.

Important Notice
Letters have been mailed to all
students who were admitted and began courses in the Masters of
School Counseling program prior to Fall 2009. This letter is
attached and notes that those who wish to be eligible for the
Temporary Provisional Certificate in School Counseling
must complete and mail the second page of this letter to the
Registrar as instructed in the letter. If you have not received the
letter but feel you may be eligible to apply for this certification
in the future, please print off this copy and mail it as instructed.

Please note that some
individuals who have already completed the Masters in School
Counseling degree may have received this letter and if you did, note
that this does not apply to you as you are eligible or may already
hold a regular provisional certificate in school counseling and do
not need a TEMPORARY provisional certificate.
Please also note any student
admitted after Fall 2009 will no longer be eligible for this
temporary certification. |
