EKU School and Mental Health Counseling Programs CACREP Accredited
Eastern Kentucky University, the College of Education and the Counseling and Educational Leadership Department are pleased to announce that the Masters programs in School and Mental Health Counseling received official notification of accreditation without conditions or recommendations through June 30th 2011 by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). CACREP is an independent accreditation agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CACREP accreditation recognizes that the content and quality of the education offered by the program has been evaluated extensively and meets high standards set by and for the profession. CACREP accreditation assures that appropriate knowledge and skills are included in the course of study that leads to successful entry into the counseling field.
EKU is the only School Counseling program approved by CACREP in Kentucky and one of only 159 accredited programs in the nation. We are one of two CACREP accredited Mental Health Counseling programs in Kentucky and one of only 36 of these programs in the nation. This places us in elite company and speaks volumes to the work and quality of the program the faculty have created.
