December Teacher Job Fair

December 11 from 11 am to 1 pm. Student Services Building.

Announcement to teacher candidates

Due to recent concerns with new employees, all persons who require a FBI criminal background check for Fayette County Public Schools must submit the following information before their fingerprints will be administered:
• A state issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license/passport) AND
• A social security card
This change applies to your college/university student teacher and practicum placements as they are required to have fingerprints on file. Fingerprints are still $40.00 and checks or money orders can be made payable to FCPS. It can take up to three weeks for those results to be returned to the FCPS Human Resources Department.

Student teaching applications for placements have been received and were tentatively approved. During finals week student teachers will recieve an email confirming student teaching placements and the CRN number required for registration. Send email to ekustudentteaching@eku.edu for any questions.

Praticum in France

Are you interested in participating in a 15-week seminar and practicum in France?

The University of Akron invites your participation in a wonderful opportunity for future educators to teach in France! Through a grant from the U.S. Department of State, up to 15 pre-service/entry level teachers can be sent to France for a 15-week seminar and
practicum.

This program is for students seeking licensure in: Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, Math, Foreign Language, ESL, and Physical Education. Although they will be teaching in English, participants should have prior French language study, with a proficiency level of at least “intermediate low.”

This program is designed to allow future educators to experience a different culture and gain insight on global educational issues. The students will attend a three-day orientation in Akron in August, and then be in France from September through December 2010.

Airfare to and housing in France are provided free of charge to the students, and they will also be given a stipend each month for living expenses. As well as teaching their subject areas to French students, the educators will have the opportunity to improve their French language ability and learn more about French culture.

Please share the attached flyer with interested students. Additional information on the program is available online at
www.uakron.edu/colleges/educ/fatiti/USparticipants.php.

Applications are available on the above website. Three cycles of applications will be accepted with due dates of January 29, February 26, and March 26.
