Administrative
Assistant: Amy Coates
The Office of Professional Laboratory
Experiences is responsible for the organization and administration of
all field and clinical experiences relating to the Teacher Education
Program at Eastern Kentucky University. This website is useful for student
teachers, students completing field assignments prior to student teaching,
cooperating teachers who supervise student teachers, and university
supervisors of student teachers. On our website, you will find documents
that assist the student teaching process and the pre-student teaching
field experiences.
Our staff receives
and evaluates all applicants for student teaching, determines the appropriate
disposition of the application, collaborates with area schools for appropriate
placements for student teachers, and provides continuous assessment
of the candidates' field and clinical experiences during the professional
semester. Many of our policies are governed by Kentucky Regulations
and the policies and procedures outlined by the Kentucky Education Professional
Standards Board.
EKU's Teacher Education
Program is committed to the mission of the College of Education: "To
teach, To learn, To help others teach and learn." We believe that all
children can learn at high levels and are committed to providing high
quality field experiences that demonstrate and support all of our professional
education programs, in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of
Education. We seek and encourage field placements and clinical experiences
in varied and diverse settings. Emersion in diverse and multicultural
experiences makes our culture rich and contributes to our own personal
and professional growth. These positive experiences better prepare our
candidates for their professional career in any setting.

our office if you have any questions or have any difficulties navigating
