How carbon
moves in the carbon cycle. |
|
|
6. |
Energy
flows in one direction in ecosystems (sunà producers à consumers), but elements move in cycles among reservoirs, such as,
the solid earth, oceans, atmosphere, and organisms. These cycles are called biogeochemical
cycles. The carbon cycle is an example
of a biogeochemical cycle. Describe
2 ways that carbon moves in the carbon cycle.
You must indicate the path, mechanism, and whether the
process is biotic or abiotic.
For example, as part of the carbon cycle, carbon moves from the
atmosphere to plants. The mechanism
is photosynthesis, and it is a biotic process. |
