APPLICATION PROCESS FOR CERTIFICATION AND CHANGE OF RANKApplications for teacher certification should be filed in the Office of Teacher Admisson & Certificaton during the first four weeks of the last term of enrollment. Applications for certification are processed upon completion of program requirements, posting of the official transcript, verification of successful completion of required assessments and verification of teaching experience for some graduate programs. Important Note: By federal law transcripts are released only by a request signed by the student.
Prior to graduation, students must complete required competency examinations and take the PRAXIS Series (Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers). All required parts of the PRAXIS test are to be taken during the senior year. NOTE: Some majors/minors require testing over two semesters. Students must review the schedule for PRAXIS tests registration deadlines prior to the beginning of the senior year (last two semesters). Specialty test(s) are required for each certification area sought.
CHECK YOUR TC1 STATUS ON LINE Once your application has been processed by EKU, you may check the status of your TC1 application by logging onto the EPSB Online website (You will need to create an account if you don't already have one by selecting "Need a login?" ) After your account has been created you may begin by clicking the "View My Application History" link. This will provide up-to-the minute status of each document pertaining your application(s). If cases are complete, applicants will receive an estimate of when the certificates will be mailed.
