Background
Check Student List - 09
The Eastern Kentucky University, College of Education now requires students
enrolled in education courses where contact with children will occur, to complete
a background check. We have an agreement with Verified Credentials to do the
checks for students in certain education classes. We have chosen this company
because of their work with educational institutions and the thorough nature
of their screening. The screening includes a check of counties where the individual
has resided, regardless of state and a check of the national child abuse database.
This background check is for students completing field experience or observations.
The process for student teachers will not be affected.
The student names are posted on
this site, so that school district staff can easily verify which EKU students
have completed the background check satisfactorily. Of course we need to limit
the access to the names. Schools or districts can request access to the student
background check list by forwarding the name and email address of individuals
who would need access to the office of Teacher Education Services teacher.admissions@eku.edu
or 859-622-1828. We will then provide a password to allow access.
