Future Teacher Days

Area high school students visit campus to learn more about teaching and the College of Education at EKU.

The day begins at 9:00 with a Welcome and then proceeds to various classrooms on campus.  The students eat lunch at the cafeteria and then break up into small groups for intimate discussions about individual programs.

The students leave to return to their schools at 2:00 with a new T-shirt and lots of good information and inspiration about teaching.

Future Educators Association Summer Camp

The College of Education (COE) will offer an all-expenses six day/ five night residential FEA Summer Camp to a total of 25 high school juniors and seniors. This camp will begin on Sunday, June 14, 2009 and conclude on Friday, June 19, 2009. The camp will balance opportunities for students to explore education as a possible career with campus-life experiences. The goal of the camp is to encourage high school students to begin planning for their futures and lay a foundation for students who due to limited financial resources may not view college as a viable opportunity. The six day camp will assist students in identifying their strengths and also possible barriers for attending college and aid in the development of a strategic one or two year plan that will assist them in attending college and possibly choosing teaching as a profession.
