RANK I NON-DEGREE PROGRAMS

With the exception of Library Science, Rank I Non-degree programs are highly individualized.  Students meet with advisors at the beginning of their program to identify goals and identify courses in the three designated categories that will help them achieve identified goals.

Elementary Education, Middle Grade Education, and Secondary Education
  
Professional Education  6 hours
     
Selected with prior advisor approval.
   Content Area    12 - 15 hours
      
Courses selected from certified teaching area(s) with advisor approval.
   Electives    9 - 12 hours
     
Selected with prior advisor approval.

Minimum program total hours:  30

Library Science Education
  
Professional Education  6 hours
     
Selected with prior advisor approval.
     
Students who have not completed a graduate reading methods course, must 
       include one of the following:  ELE 871, EMG 806, ESE 774.
   Specialization   22-28 hours

       LIB 701*, 769*, 800, 802, 805, 821, 831, 863, 870.

Total program hours:  31-34

Students having completed LIB 501 and/or 569 with a grade of "C" or better may use them to meet certification requirements.  Students who have completed these courses for credit may not receive credit for LIB 701 or 769.
